OPTIMIST vs PESSIMIST

Optimist vs Pessimist

Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand (1Sam. 17:45-46a)

David was certainly an optimist! Regardless of his circumstances, David could always see God's activity! A pessimist focuses on the problems, concentrating on the reasons why something cannot be done. The optimist sees those same problems, but he sees them from the perspective of God's presence

David was just a young boy when he faced Goliath, an intimidating veteran warrior who frightened even the bravest Israelite soldier. As he prepared for battle, David saw that Goliath was a giant. He heard his boastful taunts. He could not fail to notice his enemy's weapons: a sword, a shield, and a javelin. David did not barge into the battle unprepared for a fight. He armed himself with five smooth stones. David was prepared for God to grant him victory with the first stone he hurled at the giant or the fifth. David was ready to accept God's victory, whether it came easily or with much effort.

Optimists do not ignore the difficulties, they are keenly aware of them. But the knowledge of God's presence prevents them from becoming discouraged or giving up. It is impossible to stand in the presence of God and be a pessimist!

The account of David and Goliath vividly pictures the source of the Christian's faith—not our own size, strength, or resources, but the power of almighty God. If we focus on our opposition and problems, they will seem gigantic. But as we focus on God, we will see our situation in the proper perspective and be assured that all things are possible with God

NOTE: Five smooth stones; FIVE LETTERS that leads to victory!

- JESUS

- BLOOD

- FAITH

- TRUTH

- GRACE …

Can you point out some FIVE letters that works miracle?

“This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand”

LEADERSHIP LESSON FROM THE ANTS!

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
(PROVERBS 6:6-8)

Do you want to make a difference? Then, pay attention to the metaphor of the art. It’s amazing that one of the smallest of God’s creatures can become one of His greatest teachers.
The lessons the ant teaches us can be summarized this way:

A - Attitude of Initiative
Ants don’t need a commander to tell them to get started.
N - Nature of Integrity
Ants work faithfully and need no outside accountability to keep them doing right.
T - Thirst for Industry
Ants work hard and will replace their anthill when it gets ruined.
S - Sources of Insight
Ants store provisions is summer.

If we consider and learn from the ways of the ant, we can grow wise. Spiritually and in all your endeavors.
God bless u

OTHERS MAY, YOU CANNOT!

[24] Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

[25] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. (Matthew 16:24-25)

If God has called you to be truly like Jesus in all your spirit, He will draw you into a life of crucifixion and humility. He will put on you such demands of obedience that you will not be allowed to follow other Christians. In many ways, He seems to let other good people do things which He will not let you do.

Others who seem to be very religious and useful may push themselves, pull wires, and scheme to carry out their plans, but you cannot. If you attempt it, you will meet with such failure and rebuke from the Lord as to make you sorely penitent.

Others can brag about themselves, their work, their successes, their writings, but the Holy Spirit will not allow you to do any such thing. If you begin to do so, He will lead you into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself and all your good works.

Others will be allowed to succeed in making great sums of money, or having a legacy left to them, or in having luxuries, but God may supply you only on a day-to-day basis, because He wants you to have something far better than gold, a helpless dependence on Him and His unseen treasury.

The Lord may let others be honored and put forward while keeping you hidden in obscurity because He wants to produce some choice, fragrant fruit for His coming glory, which can only be produced in the shade.

God may let others be great, but keep you small. He will let others do a work for Him and get the credit, but He will make you work and toil without knowing how much you are doing. Then, to make your work still more precious, He will let others get the credit for the work which you have done; this to teach you the message of the Cross, humility, and something of the value of being cloaked with His nature.

The Holy Spirit will put a strict watch on you, and with a jealous love rebuke you for careless words and feelings, or for wasting your time, which other Christians never seem distressed over.

So make up your mind that God is an infinite Sovereign and has a right to do as He pleases with His own, and that He may not explain to you a thousand things which may puzzle your reason in His dealings with you.

God will take you at your word. If you absolutely sell yourself to be His slave, He will wrap you up in a jealous love and let other people say and do many things that you cannot. Settle it forever; you are to deal directly with the Holy Spirit. He is to have the privilege of tying your tongue or chaining your hand or closing your eyes in ways which others are not dealt with. However, know this great secret of the Kingdom: When you are so completely possessed with the Living God that you are, in your secret heart, pleased and delighted over this peculiar, personal, private, jealous guardianship and management of the Holy Spirit over your life, you will have found the vestibule of heaven, the high calling of God.

GENUINE FAITH

A mustard seed is tiny but it is alive. Whilst growing it will take root and grow, first underground then visibly.

A small amount of genuine FAITH in God will take root and grow.

So let your FAITH grow in God.

MUST I GO, AND EMPTY HANDED?

Rev. A. G. Upham tell the story of a young man who was about to die. He’d only been a Christian for a month, and was sad because he’d had so little time to serve the Lord. He said, “I am not afraid to die; Jesus saves me now. But must I go empty handed?” This incident prompted the writing of the song; George C. Stebbins wrote the music when Charles C. Luther gave him the words. The complete song was first published in Gospel Hymns No. 3, in 1878.

“Must I go, and empty handed,”
Thus my dear Redeemer meet?
Not one day of service give Him,
Lay no trophy at His feet?

Refrain
“Must I go, and empty handed?”
Must I meet my Savior so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him,
Must I empty handed go?

Not at death I shrink or falter,
For my Savior saves me now;
But to meet Him empty handed,
Thought of that now clouds my brow.

O the years in sinning wasted,
Could I but recall them now,
I would give them to my Savior,
To His will I’d gladly bow.

O ye saints, arouse, be earnest,
Up and work while yet ’tis day;
Ere the night of death o’ertake thee,
Strive for souls while still you may.
By Charles C. Luther 1877

MY PASTOR'S MESSAGE

THE PRINCIPLES OF DOMINION

Let us read (Daniel 6/2-6) And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.
Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.

Dominion over sin Satan and self are all we have got in this retreat. To keep this dominion; we need some principles.
Daniel is a saint to admire, an example to follow in our dark world of today's Babylon! He lived a blameless life.

Live and operate by the principle of excellence.

Principles are step to go up
1. Principles of HOLINESS
2. Principles of HONESTY
3. Principles of HUMILITY
HOLINESS: blameless without and purity inwardly Psalms 21/2
HONESTY: being reliable, trustworthy, not likely to lie, deceived or cheat 2Kings 12/2; 1Peter 2/12
HUMILITY: having a low esteem of yourself, not counting yourself Superior.
If we do these, then; Our heaven is guarantee, Our honour is guarantee, Our health is guarantee. The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility. (Pr 15:33)
Promote HOLINESS, HONESTY & HUMILITY.
God bless you, Amen.

You Ought To Be Martha And Mary i=In One!

Luke 10:40 "But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me".

"Martha was cumbered about much serving."

Her fault was not that she served: the condition of a servant well becomes every Christian. "I serve," should be the motto of all the princes of the royal family of heaven. Nor was it her fault that she had "much serving." We cannot do too much. Let us do all that we possibly can; let head, and heart, and hands, be engaged in the Master's service. It was no fault of hers that she was busy preparing a feast for the Master. Happy Martha, to have an opportunity of entertaining so blessed a guest; and happy, too, to have the spirit to throw her whole soul so heartily into the engagement. Her fault was that she grew "cumbered with much serving," so that she forgot Him, and only remembered the service. She allowed service to override communion, and so presented one duty stained with the blood of another. We ought to be Martha and Mary in one: we should do much service, and have much communion at the same time. For this we need great grace. It is easier to serve than to commune. Joshua never grew weary in fighting with the Amalekites; but Moses, on the top of the mountain in prayer, needed two helpers to sustain his hands. The more spiritual the exercise, the sooner we tire in it. The choicest fruits are the hardest to rear: the most heavenly graces are the most difficult to cultivate. Beloved, while we do not neglect external things, which are good enough in themselves, we ought also to see to it that we enjoy living, personal fellowship with Jesus. See to it that sitting at the Saviour's feet is not neglected, even though it be under the specious pretext of doing Him service. The first thing for our soul's health, the first thing for His glory, and the first thing for our own usefulness, is to keep ourselves in perpetual communion with the Lord Jesus, and to see that the vital spirituality of our religion is maintained over and above everything else in the world.

I pray that you be blessed through this message as I have being. -JOP

THE BOOK THAT NEVER GROWS OLD!

SONG:
There's a wonderful book that appeals to my heart.
A mine of riches untold.
Ev’ry word is a jewel of luster divine.
The book that never grows old.
It never grows old, no never grows old.
The word of the Father above.

It never grows old, no never grows old.
Praise God for the book of His love.

THE BIBLE IS THE BOOK OF PROSPERITY AND GOOD SUCCESS. Joshua 1/8
THE BIBLE contains * The mind of God * The state of man * The way of salvation * The doom of sinners, and * The happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, Its precepts are binding, Its histories are true, and Its decisions are immutable.
Read it to be wise, Believe it to safe, and Practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.
It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the solder’s sword, and Christian’s charter. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed.
CHRIST is its grand subject, our good the design, and the glory of God its end.
It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet.
Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

THE POTENT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34
= Righteousness has power to exalt. = Sin has power to demote.
THE POTENT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
Righteousness can exalt a whole nation of over 2 billions population. If righteousness has the power to exalt a nation, definitely it can exalt a city, a family, or a person.
EXAMPLE OF PEOPLE EXALTED BY RIGHTEOUSNESS:
Moses, Joseph, David, Daniel, Ester etc.
EXAMPLE OF PEOPLE DEMOTED BY SIN:
Lucifer, Adam, King Saul, Nebuchadnezzar, Judas Iscariot, The list is long.
Sin is a tyrant; Don't play with sin at all, if you do; it will demote you.
S-I-N is: *SATAN IN NATURE *SICKNESS IS NATURAL *SUCCESS IN NOTHING
(To be free from sin you need a transformation)
The grace of God has appear to teach us the way to be an overcomer.
[11] For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, [12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; [13] Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; [14] Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2:11-14
God require faithfulness in whatsoever we do. In wherever we may find ourselves. In our marriage vow and affairs with opposite sex. In the way we discharge our duty. In the service of God etc.
Some do neglect the means of grace, Please, do not reject the voice of God.
May God never allow us to get to the point He can no longer speaks to us, may we not get into Ballam's syndrome
The grace of God ...hath appeared to all men, [12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

GOD'S BUDGET FOR YOU IN 2009AD

From the book of prophet Joel, we see the situation that the Jews are, because of sin and disobedient; God allow some mischief to befall them.

Read with me the account of the bible. Joel 1:4
1. That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpillar has eaten (1:4)
Some pests came to devastates all their farms, locust and other destroyer pests eat up all green things. The Prophet call the people to repentance and to fast and pray to God for mercy. God really answer their prayers and gave them hope and promises in Joel 2:23-26
23. Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
24. And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.
25. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
26. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
